In August 2018 Kestrel Theatre took nine released on temporary licence (ROTL) ready prisoners from HMP Springhill through the professional process of making a piece of theatre from rehearsals in a space in Bicester through to eight lunchtime public performances at The Royal Court in London.
Drawing Connections was an arts project in collaboration with Banbury and Bicester College Art Faculty. Six to eight men from HMP Springhill worked alongside students from the college for eight sessions exploring ‘connectedness’ through various creative processes, commencing in October 2018 and finishing in December, culminating in a family session. The Wyvern Arts Society & members of BACO have been able to support this work. FIND OUT MORE
Reading Ahead with the Reading Agency
BACO supports the Reading Ahead initiative with the Reading Agency in HMP Grendon and HMYOI Aylesbury by providing prizes for those completing the challenge of reading six books and keeping a diary of what they have read. The prize giving is organised by the prison librarian and prizes of dictionaries and reference books are awarded.
